April is "National Child Abuse Prevention Month"
Throughout my life I found that I could see into the souls of others and know "where they came from", an expression my Grandmother Hila used often. Looking into their eyes I could see the depths of their pain.
This writing is a true story of an abused little girl...
She is There,
barely showing from under her bed.
she is trembling, has it ever stopped
she waits for the foot steps clicking on the floor
they draw nearer, again the fear seems evermore.
she thinks, please don't see me go the other way
I am just a child, too small to understand
it hurts to see you as I know what will happen
and then they will hate me for what I have done
Oh please, don't touch me, let me be free this once
allow me my innocence that I need so much
you lie to me through a smile so fake
to tell me that I am loved, adored and such
where is my help, does anyone care
about this man who keeps coming up the stairs
I see she needs love and feels like dying
the sad trembling child sitting and crying.
How many people came across this little girl unaware of the terror she was living at home. Let us always reach out in kindness and love as we never know whose life we may touch. This little girl grew up thinking that no one cared for her and wondered why she should not end it all. After all, she was tarnished...or so she thought.
For any of you that have suffered from child abuse it was not in your control, of course. Forgive yourself, forgive them, and please know that you are worthy of love. There are many individuals that have lived through this and are now in their adult lives still trying to find a way. We have the power to help them, by showing the light of God wherever we are.
It is possible to live with joy again.....for I am that little girl trembling beneath the bed.
Remember, everyday in every way, you are worthy...
